About Our CSA

Madison Meadowlark CSA is a partnership between a small farm in beautiful Southwest Montana and (starting in 2011)  two Hutterite colony farms in North Central Montana.  Because of this unique partnership with the Hutterites, our members receive an amazing presentation of delicious vegetables with each share pickup.  Members can also shop for other wonderful Hutterite staples at each pickup, such as naturally grown turkeys, chickens, bread, honey, and sauerkraut.  If you are a home-canner, in the summer we offer options to purchase large amounts of vegetables to store for winter.  It's truly like having your own personal farmer's market, where the farmers know your name and look forward to greeting you each week.

The variety we provide is plentiful enough - you will find the trusted staples you already know how to cook...tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, corn, broccoli, peas, beans, and many more.  We don't spend a lot of time growing things that you haven't heard of and don't recognize in favor of your favorites.  You will find that our carrots taste sweeter and cleaner than store-bought carrots, and when you eat the last cob of corn, you will wish you had more.

We follow organic and natural, sustainable farming methods such as composting, companion planting, and carefully planned crop rotation.  Our chosen fertilizers are renewable and fish-based, and do not harm the environment.  Insects are controlled by organic methods (mostly through manual removal), though occassionally a small amount of an insecticide is used on cabbage (only cabbage).  When this happens, we choose an insecticide that is approved for use on organically grown produce and/or notify our members to what was applied to the cabbage.

Some of our best compliments received include:

"My husband and son wouldn't eat carrots until they tried yours."
