A CSA program can best be described as a "vegetable subscription." You pay for a share ahead of time, and in return you receive your share of the harvest over the summer. At first the shares are light, but as the season moves on the harvest becomes full of a variety and abundance. However, joining a CSA is not without risks. The "community supported" portion of the CSA acronym describes the shared risk that the shareholder assumes when joining. If a hailstorm wipes out the tomatoes, you will have to find your tomatoes from another source. If a freeze comes early and destroys the cucumbers, there won't be any cucumbers. The shareholders not only share in the harvest, but they share in the blood, sweat, and tears of the farmer (okay, maybe just the tears).

We believe that honesty is the best policy, so we strive to communicate and let you know how things are going throughout the season via newsletters and this website. Please read our FAQ section to determine whether or not joining our CSA is the right choice for you.

Madison Meadowlark CSA started as a small family farm located near Whitehall, Montana. We started a Community Supported option in 2008-2009.  Our family has been growing a wide variety of vegetables for over 15 years using natural, sustainable methods. Since we always seemed to grow more than we could handle, we decided to offer our delicious produce through our CSA program.

In 2011 the Midway and Miller Hutterite colonies partnered with us to help us provide our members with the best produce available.  Both of these Hutterite colonies are favorites at farm stands and markets around the state, and we are excited to bring their produce to a wider market.  Our combined experience and multiple locations are in your favor for getting the most out of a CSA subscription.
